Honourable Mention: Firestarter
Firestarter was released in 1984 to a lukewarm reception and an underwhelming box office. It holds a Rotten Tomatoes rating of just 41%. The book, released 3 years earlier, was highly regarded and nominated as Best Novel for the British Fantasy Awards.
Big Names Attached: David Keith, Martin Sheen and a young Drew Barrymore are all in the cast.
Is The Book Better?: I've only read the start of it myself, but in terms of critical reception, it's higher regarded. Now, the reason I place Firestarter in the Honourable Mentions category is because, although the film was certainly a dissapointment for the majority of people, I actually really like the film. Having pretty much no notion of what the film was before seeing it, only that it was based on a Stephen King book, it didn't have much to live up to for me. And although I know it's pretty lame at times, I think it's a solid film. I'm throwing it in here for the sake of people yelling at me if I don't, and to make the point that I have the potential to like mediocre films too! But now, on with the list...
