4. Kick-Ass 2
Up and coming superstars Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Chloe Grace Moretz return to their roles as Kick-Ass and Hit Girl in this star-studded, action-packed sequel that reeks of what I can only imagine would be the smell of utter EPICNESS...if make believe words had smells. The first one was a huge surprise and I for one can not be more stoked for this sequel that follows Frank Millar's comic book series of the same name. What's not to love? While I love the traditional superhero stories it is a nice and refreshing outlook on the world of superheros. It basically follows real life people and the realistic events that would take place should citizens ever decide to suit up as masked vigilantes. Nobody is the unrealistically selfless hero who thinks up super difficult and completely avoidable ways to go about carrying out their plan. Yea I said it Nolan. There is cussing. There is blood. There is comedy. It's certainly what my life would be like if I were to decide to suit up. Kick-Ass 2 picks up where the last left off. Mindy has retired from her duties as Hit Girl and is enjoying life as normal teenager. Meanwhile a team of Kick-Ass inspired vigilantes, led by Jim Carey's Colonel Stars and Stripes character, have taken up arms against the city's crime. Kick-Ass soon joins their ranks eager to carry on his newfound obligation to the city. Their fun doesn't last long though as they begin to be eliminated by Red Mist who has freshly renamed himself The Mother F**ker. The Mother F**ker is angry and is out to seek revenge on the one who shot his father out of a skyscraper window using a rocket launcher. I feel like a Father Fucker reference would be completely appropriate at some point in the film. I'll keep my fingers crossed. It hits theatres August 16th.
