5 Films Where Audrey Tautou Plays A Total Nut-Case

5. Amélie (2001)

amelie-600x300 Amélie is probably what Tautou is best known for. And why not - it's a good film. But do you not remember what the character was actually like? A home-schooled weirdo who develops into a borderline loner that's relentlessly obsessed with interfering in people's lives without telling them. She butts into people's love lives, poses as someone's deceased spouse, and sets up co-workers even though it's none of her business; and then when it comes to setting herself up she goes through a series of pointlessly elaborate scavenger hunts and communicates solely by note exchange like a ten-year-old. On top of that she has hallucinations of herself on the television and sees inanimate objects in her bedroom come to life somehow. Amélie is well worth the watch - it's just that I'm not so sure you'd want to hang out with someone like that on a day-to-day basis. (Original title: Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain)
