5 Films Where Audrey Tautou Plays A Total Nut-Case

3. Priceless (2006)

Hors De Prix Haut 3611319hdxvp 17131 We've all heard of gold-diggers, sure; but in the French movie Priceless, Audrey Tautou's character Irène takes gold-digging to the next level - possibly even to the max. A lot of gold-diggers hang out in high-priced bars, waiting for the richest old guy to come in and take them home - that's the standard format. But if they fail, what do they do? Well, they go home and try again the next day. The only problem for Irène is that she is doesn't have a home - she's literally a homeless woman. In the film she skips from rich guy to rich guy with a turn around time of only one night, risking a cold night on the street if she fails. What can we draw from this behaviour? Well, for starters it ain't normal. Clearly there are some serious daddy issues here, dabbled maybe with a bit of chronically low self-esteem, constantly validating herself by using her looks to exploit rich men. Not only that, but there is the fact that she essentially sleeps with men for money, and we all known what blurred line this is flirting with. And with all those swirling complications, Irène lives her life as if nothing's wrong. Nutter. But even though the character is a total wack-job, watching her story on screen is very entertaining and makes for an enjoyable movie experience. (Original title: Hors de Prix)
