5 Films That Deserve Sequels And 5 That Deserve Remakes
7. Inception - Sequel
Inception is a film without the need for a sequel. It is a complete story with no loose ends, well, save for the massive cliff-hanger. But, even if it doesn’t need a sequel, that doesn’t mean we don’t want one. There are so many unexplored possibilities in the Inception universe. The dream world and the ways it can be altered are just mind-boggling, and it would be a real shame not to see them developed on film.
One element that could be further explored, is the idea of the dreams being used to imprison someone. This was touched on in relation to Cobb’s wife Mol, but, that part of the film was really more of an exploration of Cobb’s guilt. It would therefore be interesting to see this idea taken even further, maybe using the dream technology as a literal prison for someone or even a means of punishment considering the time difference between the dreams and reality.
It would also be interesting to see a sequel take more of an alternative approach. We’ve seen how physical structures can change, but what about other elements of our subconscious, like our fears? How might they manifest themselves in the dream world? This would also allow any sequel to expand on the already established Inception Law.
However, if there was a sequel, it could only be done by Christopher Nolan. The whole concept is his creation and only he would be able to take it in the right direction.
