5 Films That Deserve Sequels And 5 That Deserve Remakes

4. League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen - Remake

Man Of Steel 2
20th Century Fox

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (LoEG) currently sits on 17% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is probably fair. While you might enjoy it as a guilty pleasure, the film as a whole, is a bit of a car crash. But, the source material is so cool, that it definitely deserves a remake in order to do said material justice.

Based on Alan Moore and Kevin O’Neill’s comic series, LoEG basically creates a gothic and literary version of the Avengers, with team members such as Dr Jekyll/ Mr Hyde, Captain Nemo, Mina Murray and Alan Quartermain. As a result, there is almost a limitless amount of storytelling opportunities, as it allows a potential remake to mix and match every literary character in history.

Just think of the crossovers this could produce, you could even have The League team up with Sherlock Holmes to hunt down Dracula if you wanted. However, one major thing that would need to happen to make a successful remake would be to get the right director behind the camera.

The direction is probably what killed the original the most, as it contained so much shaky-cam, and so many quick cuts during the action sequences, that it was difficult to keep track of what was happening.

In my opinion the best possible option for such a project has to be Guillermo Del Toro, if he could do for LoEG what he did for Hellboy, then it could see the creation of an exciting steampunk movie franchise.
