5 Films That Deserve Sequels And 5 That Deserve Remakes

3. Dredd - Sequel

2012’s Dredd had it all; fantastic action sequences, some seriously badass moments and most importantly, a distinct lack of the weirdly, camp and over acted Stallone version from 1995. Instead, this new gritty take on Mega City One gave us Karl Urban’s take of Judge Dredd, and it was awesome! Some awesome in fact, that we need a sequel.

Urban was perfect as Judge Dredd, and shows great commitment to the character, as he never takes off the signature judge helmet. He also gives Dredd this unshakeable confidence that makes you feel as if he’s never out of control. In lesser hands, this might make a character seem flat, but here, it plays right into the Judge Dredd ethos, and you can’t help but smile.

It’s lead performances like this, combined with a killer electronic score, Lena Headey’s terrific villain and the horrifically beautiful use of the ‘Slow-Mo’ drug effect, that set Dredd apart from the average action film. It is also exactly why we need more of it, as soon as possible.

There have been talks of a ‘Judge Dredd: Mega City One’ show being developed, (that may or may not have Karl Urban onboard) but, it appears to be in a production limbo, and unlikely to appear on our screens anytime soon.

So, why not instead, give us what we really want, namely for Karl Urban to but the helmet back on, grab his Lawgiver, and give us another feature length instalment of Judge Dredd mayhem.
