5 Great Characters That Deserve Another Chance In A Superhero Movie

2. Green Lantern

glnew Warner Bros. first big superhero film outside of Metropolis and Gotham did not go over well at all. Green Lantern was an outright flop based on its lack of critical acclaim, low box office receipts, and poor fan reaction. Hal Jordan and the people of Coast City deserved better. Green Lantern did not fail because it was cosmic; it failed because it just plain was not good enough. Marvel Studios must believe that given the nature of two of its upcoming films, Thor: The Dark World and Guardians of the Galaxy. The concept of superheroes meet Star Wars can work, so long as the movie is good. The Green Lantern mythos is rich with epic storytelling potential. Building to something like Geoff Johns' Sinestro Corps War would make for a thrilling cosmic experience. The fact that there are more than one Earth GLs allows for sequels and spinoffs to continue far beyond a star actor's contract expiration. David Goyer recently said he would do Green Lantern, "better." If he's really interested, Warner Bros. should give him the chance.
