5 Great Films Still To Come In 2012

2. The Master

Released: 9th November There Will Be Blood may have won Daniel Day-Lewis his Oscar, but the true genius in that film was Paul Thomas Anderson. Not to be confused with Paul W.S. Anderson of Resident Evil and AVP fame, this Anderson has been making some of the most interesting and best received films of recent years. The Master is his latest film. Set in the 1950s, it tells the story of a religious cult, its charismatic leader and his doubting right hand man. Parallels to Scientology appear completely intentional. The cast (Joachim Phoenix, Phillip Seymour and Amy Adams play the lead) is to die for and it promises the same level of character driven story as we€™d expect from Anderson. There€™s already a lot of Oscar buzz surrounding The Master, particularly for Pheonix whose role as an ex-soldier brought into this strange world looks set to make an impactful return to acting after the bizarre events of I€™m Still Here. It doesn€™t premiere until later this month in Venice, so no word yet on whether it will live up to expectations, but this should be on everyone€™s list of what to look out for. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iokPRd1fGhI
