1. Skyfall
Released: 26th October Quantum of Solace was the sort of film that could have ended Daniel Craigs career as 007. An embarrassing follow up to Casino Royale that ruined all the progress of its predecessor and unsuccessfully tried to ape the success of the Bourne films, it was possibly the worst Bond film the series has produced. The action was disorienting, there was a poor attempt at continuing the Vesper storyline, but worst or all, it didnt feel like James Bond. From what weve seen of Skyfall, it looks like that wont be the case this time around. Bond is witty and suave again. The action looks blistering and theres Oscar winners both behind (Sam Mendes directs) and in front of the camera (Javier Bardem joins as the villain and Judi Dench returns as M). Also expect the return of gadgets and quips, along with a twist on some fan favourites, like Ben Whishaw as a much younger Q. Bond films are an institution. People will see them no matter what theyre the only blockbusters that can reap big from an October release. Skyfall has such talent involved and comes at such an important time for the series (it's the fiftieth anniversary of the first film, Dr. No) that expectations are as high as theyve ever been for 007. Danny Boyle showed how brilliant Bond can be when theres a proper director behind him at his spectacular Olympic opening ceremony. There may be no parachuting royalty, but if Skyfall delivers as much as the latest trailer (below) did, then Mendes could have produced something on a par with the series best. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgr2syY_OU4
