3. The Simpsons, 'Tis The Fifteenth Season (Season 15, Episode 7)
The Simpsons has always been brilliant let me start again. The Simpsons was brilliant to watch between 1989 and about 2000, and has always had a great deal of heart when it wants, so youd expect their telling of A Christmas Carol to be full of heart and sentimentality. Well, no. Whilst the episode itself is a rather traditional telling of A Christmas Carol- where Homer is spurred on by past greed to become to nicest man in town, much to Ned Flanders chagrin- it is the adaptations within the episode that are brilliant. Theyre just pure funny. First off is a very brief Star Trek Christmas special, then we briefly see Urkel, and of course there is the Christmas special that spurs on Homer to change his ways, Mr. MacGrews Christmas Carol. None are particularly lengthy, but they are fantastic cutaway gags and tie in nicely with a generally top-notch alternative adaptation- a miracle considering this is later Simpsons!
