5 Gruesome Movie Deaths That Are Way Worse Than You Think (And 5 That Aren't)
Things That Are, Somehow, Much Worse Than You Think...
5. Decapitation
Liberating the brain from body is generally a good way to ensure your opponent doesn't get up again. Actual decapitation is, perhaps counterintuitively, not as quick and painless as simply being shot in the head.
This is because, although the mortality rate for having your bonce removed is 100%, the brain is not actually damaged in the process, meaning that you get a few precious moments after the fact to appreciate your new life as just a head.
The actual amount of time it takes a head to die when separated from the body is still not 100% certain, probably due to the fact that its difficult to get volunteers together for a study. Some reports, usually from around the time people got their heads cut off at regular intervals, suggest that survival time could be as long as 30 seconds, but many modern scientists think that this time is likely to be more like three to five seconds.
This is likely to be the most unpleasant five seconds of your severely truncated life.
