5 Horror Novels That Deserve Film Adaptations (And 5 That Deserve Better)

8. I Am Legend - Deserves Better

My Best Friends Exorcism

No one can say for sure what Legend of Hell House author/ horror icon Richard Matheson had in mind when he wrote the classic survival horror novel I Am Legend.

One thing which viewers can be comfortably certain he wouldn't have loved, however, was his cautionary tale of dehumanizing your enemies being turned into, well, a case of Hollywood filmmakers using a big budget to dehumanize America's enemies.

Matheson's story didn’t deserve the 2007 dud of the same name starring Will Smith, an un-scary and pseudo-intellectual effort which makes a mockery of its title by replacing the reveal that its protagonist is the uncaring villain who has never considered his enemy's humanity with...

Well, a typical action movie ending wherein Smith blows up the enemy instead of trying to talk to them.
