5 Horror Novels That Deserve Film Adaptations (And 5 That Deserve Better)
7. John Dies At The End - Deserves Better
Written by Cracked contributor David Wong (real name Jason Pargin), John Dies at the End is a cult horror comedy novel which received an appropriately bonkers film adaptation in 2012 from Bubba Ho-Tep helmer Don Coscarelli.
This one is a bit unfortunate, as Coscarelli mostly nailed the book's bizarre tonal shifts in adapting it to the big screen.
So what's the problem?
Well, the film may effectively embody the book's morbid humour and breakneck pace, but it's unfortunately overstuffed as the novel's expansive story really required the miniseries treatment in order to illustrate its many subplots and episodic diversions.
Feel free to rehire Coscarelli for said miniseries if it ever comes to fruition, though.
