5 Huge Godzilla Mistakes That King Of The Monsters Must Avoid

3. Killing Off The Most Interesting Characters

When Godzilla kicked off, we were introduced to Joe Brody who, by the looks of things, was set to become our protagonist. Portrayed by Bryan Cranston, Joe was the lead engineer at the Janjira nuclear plant who lost his wife during an unanticipated reactor breach and spent the next 15 years obsessed with figuring who, or what, was responsible for all of it - something we all rooted for him to do. And then he was randomly killed off as soon as the MUTO was born.

Cranston's performance was nothing short of award-worthy as he managed to use those 20 minutes of screen-time to captivate audiences and convince us all that he should have been the film's main character (an honour that went to his son, Ford), and he did so to such a degree that it was hard to warm to any of the other characters. After all, this was Joe's story, so why didn't he get to tell it?

It wouldn't have even mattered if the rest of the characters were up to scratch because Joe's early death left such a sour taste in audiences' mouths that nobody could have been a worthy successor, so this isn't a mistake that Godzilla: King of the Monsters can risk repeating.

While it looks like both Millie Bobby Brown and Vera Farmiga's characters are set to steal the show, let's just hope that one of them isn't silenced at the expense of the other.

The more interesting characters, the better. Speaking of which...
