5 Implausible The Avengers 2 Rumours

1. ...Which Will Lead to Clark Gregg Returning as The Vision

Why It's Rumoured: People, myself included, loved Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson. And it's rumored that Coulson didn't die in The Avengers. Vision is a popular Avenger, created by Ultron, using the brain waves of dead superhero Wonder Man, who starts out evil and then becomes good. Why It's Implausible: Well, Joss Whedon, first of all, is no fan of Wonder Man (which sort of breaks my heart), talking about which Avengers he'd like to bring on board:
€œA boatload. Pretty much everyone but Wonder Man. I never did figure out what he was for.€
Who's Wonder Man, you might be asking? Excellent question. But it doesn't matter. The very fact that you and the general audience would have to be introduced to Hank Pym, Ultron, and Simon Templar (Wonder Man) before Vision's debut is a very big factor into why Vision, alone, most likely won't be appearing in the next film. Next, let's look at the fact that Gregg's return was a rumor so much to the point that it somewhat surprised everyone working on the films. Gregg, himself, said:
€œVision is cool. But I would hate to be any AI life form. If I got to come back, I would need to still be somebody who could wisecrack, because my favorite part of the job was that if anybody was going to tease anybody about their diva superhero outfit or whatever, it would be me€ I really love what Joss did with Agent Coulson in The Avengers. It seems like an idea that was in the cards, not only from Joss but from Marvel, in that you needed to ground the movie in some real emotion and stakes. I loved playing that guy, and I€™ll miss playing him, but I was glad to have that job...That might be hard. I might be sad € I guess I would if I was dressed up as a sentient android.€
That would mean that it was never in the cards or the long-run plan to bring Coulson back as Vision. If they did do it, it would truly be something inspired by the fans, as Coulson becoming Vision completely abandons the comic book source material. That, an adding another male character to The Avengers 2 is adding another man into a team that not only houses Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Thor, Bruce Banner, Clint Barton, and Nick Fury, but also may end up including the men of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Rhodey from Iron Man 3 (as Iron Patriot), and Falcon from Captain America: The Winter Soldier. That's a packed house, already, folks. And those are what's already above mere speculation, at this point. That roster is a lot more possible that Gregg returning as the android. So, what do you think? Are there any rumors you like going around?

Cameron Carpenter is an aspiring screenwriter, current film and journalism student, and self-diagnosed cinephile, which only sounds bad in certain circles. Devoted fan of comics, movies, theater, Jesus Christ, Sidney Lumet, and Peter O'Toole, he sometimes spends too much time on his Scribd and comicbookmovie.com, but doesn't think you're one to judge, devoted reader.
