4. Rango - 2011 This is the surprise exception to the "Hollywood formula" of a CGI family-friendly animated film with talking animals voiced by A-List actors go on an epic adventure. I think that Rango went under the radar, so to speak, for a lot of people due to the very fact that it is made using that very formula. However I would recommend checking it out, as it is a new take on a worn out plot and scenario, and the self-aware elements of the film make it endearing even if the plot is very weak. Depp lends his voice to the lead role of Rango, a chameleon house-pet becomes a sheriff in the old Western town of Dirt and helps them try to find water... and that's about it. As I said,it's plot is very weak. I agree that Rango isn't the most creative of movies, but it is one of the best animated film that you probably missed. It is well made, fun and visually impressive. So if you enjoy the voiced acting work of Depp then this is for you. Plus, keep an eye out for the various film spoofs that include everything from Star Wars to Depp's own role in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
