5 Johnny Depp Movies To Watch Instead Of The Lone Ranger

3. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street - 2007sweeney-todd-the-demon-barber-of-fleet-street-original The first, and only, musical on the list had Depp playing the titular character of Mr. Todd in 2007. The Demon Barber sets up his barber shop in London to achieve his own brand of bloody revenge with a side of singing and a liberal reworking of the hit Broadway musical. Depp€™s portrayal earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, and I believe that this was not without merit. The man actually learned to sing and pulls off a nice take on the source material. Yes, the singing element is jarring, but then again, it is a musical so what did people expect? Depp is one of the only actors who could achieve a perfect blend of stone cold killer and a broken-hearted man out for vengeance. When you are made emphasise with someone like Todd, you know that the actor portraying him is something special. If you enjoy this film watch Sleepy Hollow, as these two fit very nicely together as the best "period pieces" in Depp's bag of tricks.
