5 Major Reveals From The First Captain America: Civil War Promo Art

2. New Costumes

If I wanted to be completely cynical, I'd probably point out that changing the costumes of their heroes in each Marvel movie is done mostly with the idea of selling toys in mind, but seeing as whenever a new artist takes over on a series they put their own spin on a character's costume, it feels fitting for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (plus, it's just a good business decision, and it's hard to not respect that). There are some interesting alterations here regardless. Iron Man is wearing a suit of armour which is very similar to his "Bleeding Edge" look in the comic books, a natural progression seeing as how it gets more advanced with each movie Tony Stark appears in. War Machine on the other hand looks a lot bulker and meaner than past iterations, and that glowing red gun is surely going to mean trouble for Cap's Avengers. Black Widow, Hawkeye, Falcon, and The Vision only appear to have undergone fairly minor cosmetic changes since last appearing in Avengers: Age of Ultron, while Captain America has a slightly more armoured look and a bit more red in his suit. After his overly padded costume in The First Avenger and that not so great effort in The Avengers, Marvel seem to have finally found the perfect style for Chris Evans' Steve Rogers. Ant-Man meanwhile has a completely new outfit, but that's to be expected seeing as Scott Lang was wearing Hank Pym's Cold War era suit in his solo outing. Bucky is sticking to his Winter Solider look and carrying a couple of very mean looking weapons, though his comic book counterpart's domino mask is clearly something being left out of this adaptation. The biggest and best change though has got to be Hawkeye. Clad in a fully purple costume, this feels like the right direction for a character who has progressed from S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent to superhero.
