5 More Toys Of 1980's That Should Be Made Into Movies
3. California Raisins
I Heard It Through The Grapevine
The California Raisins started in 1986 as a claymation advertisement campaign from the California Raisin Advisory Board. The idea for the first commercial came from one of the writers saying that they had tried everything but dancing raisins singing I Heard It Through The Grapevine by Marvin Gaye in terms of an advertisement idea. The commercial and its new band of singing raisins became a huge hit and led to more successful commercials as well as several studio albums. Eventually the success of the commercial campaign branched out to include toys and collectible merchandise of all kinds, including the famous run as a giveaway toy for the Hardees restaurant chain. Pure musicals and movies that include singing like several of the Walt Disney movies have always been popular with kids and adults alike. It is a way in which the audience, children in particular, can relate to and learn from the movie. Being able to learn the songs and sing along with the characters helps the audience feel like they are a part of the movie. You can then watch the movie with others and have a fun interactive movie experience. As long as the songs are catchy the sky is the limit for its popularity. Forget Beatlemania and the British Invasion, here come the California Raisins! The California Raisin movie should be done similar to the Smurfs movie in the fact it would combine live action human actors as well as the CGI animated raisins. The film would be an origin film of sorts. Not a how the Raisins gained the ability to walk, talk, grow limbs, play instruments, sing and basically became living creatures type of movie. Kids really arent too concerned with those meaningless things. Rather it should be a movie that centers on how the California Raisins band was formed and how through their music they took the world by storm. You would see the band in the recording studio creating the catchy songs they are known for. It would follow the Raisins as they travel from city to city, all the while allowing the audience to see them behind the scenes as they learn how to deal with the daily aspects of life when you are a popular band. There would eventually be some sort of falling out involving several of the band members, only to have them reconcile and put on a fantastic finale concert. A full length movie about a singing, dancing, band of raisins should be done carefully because if it is done correctly it could lead to possible sequel films.
