5 More Toys Of 1980's That Should Be Made Into Movies

2. Food Fighters

"Combat at its kookiest!"

Food Fighters was solely a toy line created by Mattel that ran from 1988-1989. It was a tongue and check attempt to center on the concept of a €œfood fight€. And it was certainly combat at its kookiest, as their tag line suggested. Each of the action figures were humanlike pieces of food dressed as soldiers. There were two competing armies: the Kitchen Commandos and the Refrigerator Rejects. Some of the names of these figures are classic. There was the Burgerdier General, (a cheeseburger) who was the leader of the Kitchen Commandos. He was followed in command by Major Munch (a chocolate glazed doughnut), Lieutenant Legg (a chicken drumstick), Sergeant Scoop (an ice cream cone), and Private Pizza (a slice of pizza). They were opposed by the Refrigerator Rejects and their members Mean Weener (a hot dog), Chip the Ripper (a chocolate chip cookie), Short Stack (a stack of pancakes), Taco Terror (a taco), and Fat Frenchy (a box of french fries). As Pixar and DreamWorks have proven over the years, CGI movies are where it is at right now for kid movies. The imaginations of the creators and the designers can run wild and unrealistic concepts such as food being alive and fighting as two separate army units can become a messy reality. Plus, who wouldn€™t want so see a movie where a slice of pizza attacks a short stack of pancakes with the help of a frying pan helicopter? It would be deliciously entertaining! The Food Fighters movie would take place in the summer just days before a large family cookout is about to take place. The Smith family would have already stocked up on food from their regular grocery store. Everything is as it always was. Their normal food would consist of the Kitchen Commandoes who guarded over the Smith family kitchen. When suddenly without warning Uncle Joe shows up the night before the party from across the country to help with the cooking and preparation the following day. Only Uncle Joe decided he wanted to help with the contribution of the food as well, and on his drive over from the airport he bought food from a competing grocery store in the area. This new food would consist of the Refrigerator Rejects, who overnight organize an uprising against the Kitchen Commandoes and an all-out food fight ensues. They would battle all night only to have the proud Kitchen Commandoes defeat the unwelcomed new comers. The Smith€™s kitchen however would be a total disaster, leaving the poor family dog Rex to take the blame and be punished to his cage for the duration of the cookout while the Kitchen Commandoes resumed their post as kitchen protectors.
