5 More Toys Of 1980's That Should Be Made Into Movies

4. Hungry Hungry Hippos

€œIt's a race, it's a chase, hurry up and feed their face!

Who will win? No one knows! Feed the hungry hip-ip-pos!

Hungry hungry hippos!"

Hungry Hungry Hippos was a board game that was created in 1978 by Hasboro and gained popularity in the 1980€™s. The goal of the game was a simple one: collect or €œeat€ as many of the marbles as you can before they are all gone by hitting the lever that controlled the mouth of your hippo. The €œhungriest€ hippo won. Although we have seen movies based on board games before, such as €œJumanji€ and €œBattleship€, the Hungry Hungry Hippos would need to take a different approach to the silver screen. Unlike €œJumanji€ for instance, a movie based on the Hungry Hungry Hippos game couldn€™t be a family movie that just showed the game being played. It is a different kind of game, much too simplistic to be translated directly to the movie. A movie for this particular game would really need to get creative and go outside of the box. Instead the Hungry Hungry Hippo movie needs to take a similar approach of other movies based on hungry animals, such as €œAnaconda€ and €œLake Placid€. They need to turn this children€™s game into an adult horror movie. The film would open in Africa. A vacationing family, a small documentary film crew, or even a couple of the locals would be doing some sort of activity in one of the river or swamp areas, at dusk of course. While doing said activity, their boat, raft, or vessel would suddenly be attacked from below and one of the members of the family, crew, or locals would be pulled under water to their death. The audience would not get a clear visual shot of what just attacked. An investigation would ensue. Other animals would be blamed, such as the local crocodiles. Meanwhile another incident occurs near the place of the original attack only a few days later. This time the attack is inadvertently recorded by the hand held video camera of the second victim which was found at the scene of the crime. The video would of course reveal the true killers; a group of overly large, overly aggressive, and overly hungry hippos. The explanation for their extreme growth and aggression would be investigated and the reason would eventually be discovered. Once it is, a hunting party would be assembled to track down and kill the hippos before they can strike again. Naturally they locate the herd, and a few more human casualties pile up before eventually the last of the hungry hippos is killed. Or so they think. As the movie ends we are shown a den of another dozen young hippos. A young child would then be seen entering the den. The movie would cut to a black screen, and then we would hear the screams of the child followed by the credits.
