4. Black Widow
Why We Need It: Im going to go out on a limb and venture to say that the Black Widow is the Marvel Cinematic Universes most undervalued asset. Since the moment she debuted onscreen, she (Scarlett Johansson) has been simply brilliant in just about every scene shes in. She was definitely a highlight of Iron-Man 2, and she more than held her own in The Avengers. Her sardonic wit and deadpan delivery, combined with her remarkable 'skill set' (as she put it) and the relative mystery surrounding her past prior to her involvement with S.H.I.E.L.D. make her, in my opinion, the perfect candidate for her own standalone film. A Black Widow movie would be an excellent way to reintroduce some realism to the MCU, something that it could potentially lose with pending titles like Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man.
Why We Wont Get It: Marvels got plenty on their plates as it is, what with Phase 2 in gearing up. It seems that for now theyve relegated their non super-powered characters to the small screen, and that their overall goal at this point in time is to cement established franchises while interweaving newer ones into the fold. That, added to the fact that Black Widow is slated to appear in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and it just doesnt seem likely well see the master assassin in her own feature any time soon.
