5 Movies That Use Mysticism As The Deus Ex Machina

1. Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope

Obi Wan lie At the beginning of this series (or the end depending on how you look at it), the pure and holy force of the Jedi has been overthrown and nearly extinguished by the evil Empire. The remaining supporters of the Jedi are known as the Rebel Alliance and they have stolen blueprints to the Galactic Empire's Death Star (a space station that can destroy entire planets). Princess Leia- the leader of the Rebel Alliance- sends the plans in R2D2 to a miserable little planet where it must find Obi- Wan Kenobi. The droids get captured and Leia's unknown twin who desperately wants to get off the planet happens to pick the droids up who find Obi-Wan who gives Luke Anakin's lightsaber (Luke was supposed to have built and inserted the crystal into his saber himself as is tradition by jedis) and is whisked away to his destiny. Spiritual guidance, yada yada, Obi-Wan dies and by the end of the movie, Hans Solo has taken off in the Millennium Falcon with his payment and the Rebel Alliance is left fighting the Death Star. The Rebel Alliance's ships have almost all been destroyed when Hans pops back into the picture to help out. Luck then goes in for the kill. The mighty Death Star has one entry point and one weak spot that can cause the entire space station to be destroyed. Seriously? Who designed this? Darth Vader should Force Choke that guy. Anyways, Luke is about to mess up again when Obi-Wan's spirit appears to him and guides him straight and true!
