5 Movies To Restore Faith In The Horror Genre

5. Silent Hill Revelation

Movies based on video games can frequently not only fall short of the mark but also destroy whole genres in the process. The Resident Evil series of movies, which like its characters seems to be undead and everlasting, is ok, but for a horror orientated game to cinema conversion, Silent Hill has delivered more than anyone would have expected. The video games , particularly the first three, are some of the most atmospheric interactive experiences you could have, with eerie music, misty partially obscured locations and terrifying creatures that seem to appear from nowhere to scare you silly. The surprise came when Silent Hill hit cinemas in 2006 and was every bit as horrifying and disturbing as its inspirational material. With Silent Hill Revelations, based on the third game in the series, we are once again delivered straight into the heart of hell in another nerve-shredding slice of pure horror that will make you ask yourself the question€why can€™t they make all horror movies like this. So there you have just a small number of films to check out but the list of upcoming films is endless, with remakes of Stephen King€™s Carrie and Childs Play coming in 2013 along with I, Frankenstein, Texas Chainsaw and Hansel & Gretel to name just a few. Strap yourself in for a bloody, flesh ripping ride. Happy Halloween.
