3. Robocop
I can almost understand the apprehension about this film initially. Right now it's getting lost in a pile of remakes/reboots from around the same era that really have no reason at all being remade other than for a few quick bucks to those who may fall into the trap of familiarity. Yet, something is sparking here. Dredd received some decent enough reviews, and the trailer for this Robocop remake struck many as a surprise. It actually looks like it may be an adequate movie. It's tough to say but we may get an actual narrative in a film that we suspected of being absent of substance and purpose. As you read, even I have reservations. But go Google forums for this film and I am the nicest of people. Although this film isn't getting as much attention as Batman/Superman, your mom and dad are sure to get upset as they remember the good old days when their films were the best. Hollywood seems to be in a trend of grabbing movies from our parents' generation and trying to remarket to newer audiences. It comes off as shameless and just pathetic at first and second glance. But once again, you're going to go watch it. It's releasing during a time of year when nothing else comes out and it has a lot of big name actors and flashes and bangs to keep your mind occupied. People are going to gripe about how the movie is completely unneeded but that will not slow down the trek to the ticket window come the day Robocop makes its way into theater.
