5 Newly Acquired Properties That Are A Pefect Fit For Disney (And 5 That Are Not)

3. NOT: Deadpool

With Marvel Studios landing the X-Men, they will have film rights to all mutants in Marvel's catalog. That places Disney's newest prince, Deadpool, in a precarious spot.

Dark Phoenix is due in June and could very well be the last Fox produced X-Men film to hit theaters. New Mutants was set to release in August after being delayed for over a year, but even its current date is still in question, if it will be released in theaters at all. The X-Men seem to be at a crossroads and a fresh reboot into the MCU is a no-brainer.

This is very much not the case for the Merc with a Mouth. Both Deadpool films are among the highest grossing R-rated movies of all-time and have outperformed any of the X-Men's big screen outings.

Of course Marvel Studios would like to apply that success to the already massive MCU, but it could be difficult. What has made Deadpool so fresh is his satirical, 4th wall-breaking antics and the embrace of the R-rating. The current series has been defined by its vulgarity and often over the top violence which would seem out of place in the current MCU.

We all hope to see Deadpool interact with a major Marvel player soon, but we also want to see a follow-up to 2018's Deadpool 2, which seem incompatible. This isn't necessarily the worst problem to have and could be done well in either case. We just want the best 'Pool possible.
