2. Alexander (2004)
For a film that was absolutely slaughtered by critics, Alexander refuses to leave us alone. This year saw a fourth cut released to an audience who never asked for a second. Unlike Kingdom of Heaven, no matter how many tweaks are made, theres just not enough good material to make this thing into passable epic. Although directed by the legendary Oliver Stone and filled with a cast filled with talented actors, the script is so plodding and dour that no Greek God could fix it. Whilst epic bio pics are usually excellent and deservedly receive Oscar nods, a refinement and careful approach is needed as not to alienate the public, who - at the end of the day - are looking to be entertained. While Alexander is noble in its refusal to simply appease the masses, it forgot its need to appeal to anyone at all.
