5 Reasons Hellboy 3 Needs To Happen Already

1. No One Is Getting Any Younger

Guillermo del Toro is notorious for having a wide array of projects on his plate at any given time, both as a producer and as a director. With his attention constantly being pulled in different directions, it'd be hard to get him to finally focus in on Hellboy 3 and make it a reality, considering he'd likely write the film, too, as he did with the first two films. Each passing year means more projects on his future slate, which only serves to push a third film even further down the line. Ron Perlman is currently 64. He has a strong desire to play the character again, isn't out of shape and could easily fall right back into Hellboy's shoes if the film were to pick up steam in the near future. While the makeup and prosthetic work can easily hide his age, one has to wonder for how much longer he's going to be willing to jump into such a physically demanding role. At this rate, Hellboy 3 could finally gain traction as Ron Perlman enters into his 70's and may just not find the idea appealing anymore. Eventually, a time will come when the prospects of Hellboy 3 being made will have completely dried up, either leaving the series with only two films under its belt or for someone else to find a way to reboot it. In an ideal world, the studio would greenlight it, del Toro would crack down on it and Hellboy and the gang would get one final hurrah. The series still has so much to offer and hopefully the tides turn on bringing it back in all its creative, energetic glory as soon as humanly -- or demonically -- possible.
