Possibly not as relevant to those close to my own age as it would be to those who are several years older, but in the 90s, Tarantino was a character. He reputation for insanity, while being a gross exaggeration, is well known if not as well documented. Yes, he has had incidents with the press. Yes, he is supposedly a sexually devious devil. And yes, he is a slightly crazy variation of Abed from Community. But there's no such thing as bad press, right? Not to mention he has dated a host of gorgeous actresses, and has close relationships with several of today's coolest actors (I'm looking at you, Samuel).
