Another thing that has made the series so endearing is its employment of practical effects wherever possible. Though the original film featured absolutely revolutionary work in the realm of CGI, those efforts were perfectly complimented by the complex handiwork of Stan Winston Studio. In a world where CGI creations have become an easy fallback, the Jurassic Park series continues to hold strong for providing creatures that very much seem to exist, just waiting to be reached out and touched. Though the guru Stan Winston sadly passed away in 2008, his legacy lives on, as Legacy Effects -- a special effects studio born in the wake of his death by members of the original Studio -- was quickly employed to continue the franchise's special brand of practical effects. As seen above, the first image of one of the film's animatronic raptors helped alleviate a lot of worries some people may have had about the level of practical effects being employed and instantly brought with it a wave of nostalgia for the original series, reminding everyone with our first look beyond just cast and location photos and teases that yes, the film is really, finally happening and that the dinosaurs audiences fell in love with back in 1993 are on the verge of rearing their heads again (even if those heads are operated by a handful of specialists). Trevorrow and Universal's desire to stick with what's worked for over two decades and not cut corners by leaving everything to post-production is to be commended and is yet another step in the right direction for a sequel that could've easily headed down a completely CGI path.
