5 Reasons To Be Excited For The Amazing Spider-Man 2

2. Richard and Mary Parker The Parker Parents have always been mysterious and The Amazing Spider-Man reiterates this constantly. In the original comics, they were both CIA agents fighting against some major Marvel villains such as the Red Skull. In the newer Ultimate Spider-Man universe, Richard is responsible for the biochemical suit that creates Venom. In The Amazing Spider-Man, we actually see Mr. and Mrs. Parker in flashbacks at the beginning of the movie. We learn that someone was after Richard's work on cross-species genetics, a project that Dr. Curt Connors was his partner on. In an after credits scene, Connors is in jail and a mysterious figure asks him "Did you tell the boy the truth about his father?" This is an awesome setup for the sequel, which could borrow from the comics and make Richard and Mary Parker complete badasses. Either way, I'm excited to learn more about this rich backstory. And speaking of the mysterious jail cell figureĀ€
