5 Reasons To See Jurassic Park 3D

1. Jeff Goldblum

tumblr_lwd1z4CfnE1qmaa05o1_500 "That is one big pile of sh*t€.€ The charmingly sardonic Dr. Ian Malcolm is the best human character in the movie. He€™s the only one who really stands out. I love Sam Neil€™s Alan Grant and Richard Attenborough€™s John Hammond, but it€™s more because of the actors. Their characters are not well defined, and more serviceable as audience stand-ins or necessities to move the plot forward. Dr. Malcolm does some of this plot-shifting too, with all his chaos theory foreshadowing, but he€™s simply far more interesting and entertaining to watch along the way. You gotta love Jeff Goldblum€™s off-kilter line delivery, inserting the unnecessary €œahs€ every five words and gesticulating semi-flamboyantly, all while cracking a smile and throwing in a wisecrack. €œNow you do plan on having dinosaurs on the dinosaur tour right?€ He even manages to keep his sense of humor with a gnawed-on leg and a T-Rex rampaging after him (€œMust go faster.€) Aside from being generally interesting and hilarious, his character€™s true service is a logic factor to ground the movie. The film may astound, but its saturation of dinosaurs and insistence on awing you runs the risk of putting itself too high in the clouds. Goldblum brings it back down to earth. Plus he€™s right about everything and his jokes are really funny€ (Okay I admit it, when I was younger I wanted to be Jeff Goldblum. Don€˜t lie, you know you did too). It€™s a shame that he breaks his leg halfway through the movie and does pretty much nothing after that. But hey, at least he gets the spotlight in the sequel!!€.. (But seriously, give The Lost World a chance. It€™s not exactly good, but it€™s not as bad as people say). Bottom line, see Jurassic Park 3D. See it twice if you want to (you€™ll want to). It€™s well worth the money, and if nothing else, it proves that after 20 years people still like dinosaurs. And Jeff Goldblum. On another note, if both Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill come back for Jurassic Park IV I€™ll be a seriously happy camper. Let€™s hope that, as Dr. Malcolm once so eloquently put it, life finds a way.

I'm an all-around film enthusiast - always have been, always will be. When I'm not writing about movies I'm sitting in a dark room watching one on my laptop. You might also find me at the local movie theater watching Christopher Nolan's new movie for the 80th time. I'm the guy in the back wearing the "It kept spinning" t-shirt. I also just started a blog called "The Dream Factory," in which I post video reviews of the latest TV shows and movies. So hopefully if you like the way I write, you'll love the way I talk.
