5 Reasons Why The Avengers Is Better Than The Dark Knight Rises

2. The Numbers Don't Lie

If you want to talk about the basic facts then The vengers has outperformed Nolan's trilogy at every turn. In its opening weekend, The Avengers domestic box office was $207, 438,708 whereas The Dark Knight Rises made only $160,887,295. In fact the combined opening domestic gross for all three Batman movies was $368,044,218 which is only $160,605,510 difference - not bad for a movie on it's own! And how about those total lifetime gross figures? At last count Avengers had grossed over $1.46billion making it the 3rd highest grossing movie of all time. The Dark Knight Rises currently sits at number 89, lower than The Dark Knight which is ranked at number 12, according to the site Box Office Mojo. The combined total gross of the new batman trilogy currently tallies at $738,976,983 which means DKR still has a lot of work to do outperform Marvel's massive hero team up. Counter Argument: Avengers was in 3D, and poor post production 3D at that. This bumped up the price of tickets which gives it an advantage over all of Nolan's movies which have never been (and will never be) available in anything except honest to goodness 2D. Has the lack of things flying out of the screen made his movies any less popular? Not even a little bit.
