4. To Make Up For Ali's Disappointingly Short Role In Luke Cage
In Luke Cage, a lot of the cast was very enjoyable, but the best member of it was arguably Mahershala Ali - his performance as Cottonmouth being basically flawless and yet... the writers killed him off within the first half of the first season.
It was certainly a waste when Ali's performance was so good, and the villain that replaced him, Diamondback, was far more lacklustre, lacking the same presence of menace that Ali brought to his character.
So, giving the actor a far more prominent role as Blade really will help to make up for his disappointingly short tenure in the Netflix show, as Ali's Blade will surely be great and definitely will last longer than Cottonmouth - a villain that will now likely never be seen or even mentioned again.
