5 Reasons Why You Should Ignore The Critics On Rock Of Ages

4. We Built This City On Rock And Skepticism

This penultimate point boils down to a fundamental question I want you to consider about the film industry- aren€™t we all getting a bit cynical nowadays? Is it not easier for us to assume that a new, lightly-advertised musical film will be a dire watch and for us to stick to the franchises and household names we know and have faith in even if we€™ve been let down before? Indeed, I€™ve stepped into Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance, John Carter, Battleship, Wanderlust, Prometheus and countless other cinema showings this year with that exact frame of mind, and quite frankly I would have rather seen Rock Of Ages over each and every one of them. It€™s a hard thing for me to ask the general public to be a little more optimistic every now and then, but I think that too frequently have viewers been completely resigned to taking the words of critics as gospel in recent times, an ambitious assumption on their parts in terms of the films they choose to see and certainly something that sets a dangerous precedent to narrow the minds of film viewers considerably in years to come.
