5 Signs The Superhero Movie Bubble Is About To Burst

4. The Vast Amount Of Source Material

Unlike most films, which are tasked with creating their own characters worlds and storylines everything already exists for superhero films in the form of comic books. Though some plotlines are clearly too strange or controversial for studios to touch, there hundreds if not thousands of great options already in existence. For a genre that is stuck in a bit of repetitive rut this is a godsend. Everything that they would need has already been mapped out. Moving on from character deaths, alternate storylines, reboots, transitions between heroes and crossovers have all been tried and tested. Not only is there an outline for every franchise, there are multiple options. Because of the massive source material studios don€™t have to worry about how audiences will react to possible storylines or new directions, they already know. Writing the films to keep them entertaining and engaging is still a challenge, but it€™s a lot easier than building a story from scratch.
