5. Hannah Weaver - Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011)
On the surface, this film seems to be another conventional romantic comedy riddled with unoriginal clichés, while it resembles a lump of soppiness to the typical audience. This is not the case, as for a comedy it breaks away from those hackneyed romantic conventions, as the film demonstrates that it can independently show that it is remarkably smart and feverishly hilarious. Starring alongside Ryan Gosling and Steve Carell, Stone plays a young woman who one night rejects the womanizing advances from Jacob (Gosling). The two then blossom into becoming romantically involved with one another. Amidst this familiarity, the film establishes itself and proves to the audience that romantic comedies can in fact be both romantic and comical and the balance is beautifully executed and accomplished, much to the film's credit. As for Stone's performance it bodes perfectly, as it is both charming and well cultivated. Her character shies away from embracing the role, which on occasion can embody the stereotypical love interest. But with her outstanding qualities, this provokes feelings of geniality and warmth from the audience towards her. Stone demonstrates how she can easily capture the essence of her character, both visually and with her fluorescent personality. Credit to her.
