3. BraveStarr
BraveStarr would make an absolutely fantastic steampunk movie. It was essentially a western set in space, combining elements of both the western and science fiction genres. It was set in the 23rd century on a multi-cultural desert planet called New Texas. The titular character is a 'Galactic Marshall stationed on the planet'. He's a Native American who can call upon the power of 'spirit animals' in order to gain their abilities. The abilities are eyes of the hawk, ears of the wolf, strength of the bear and speed of the puma (all of which result in a pretty awesome theme tune, incidentally). His arch-nemesis is Tex Hex, whose powers include teleportation, energy bolts, and shape-shifting. The interesting array of supporting characters would produce some interesting on-screen interactions and visuals, as they include an anthropomorphic cybernetic horse, a hulking, 14 ton, green-skinned bartender, a red reptile who can exhale large clouds of sand and a giant, demonic dinosaur who is covered in smoke. It might be a bit much for a new audience to embrace but, with the right marketing and the support of fans from years gone by, it could make a great movie. Imagining some of the characters with modern CGI is pretty epic.
