5 Surprising Cinematic Universes (And 5 Which Never Got Off The Ground)

1. Surprising: The 'Ed And Lorraine Warren Investigate Spooky Goings-On' Cinematic Universe

James Wan's The Conjuring stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren, a pair of paranormal investigators who examine unexplained (purportedly supernatural) phenomena. This real-life couple have investigated a variety of famous paranormal cases, including the alleged hauntings of the Amityville House.

The first film in the series was both a commercial and critical hit, praised by critics and audiences alike for its strong performances, well-crafted scares, and striking visuals. Owing to its rampant success, The Conjuring quickly spawned an equally well-received sequel, which similarly centered on a young family plagued by paranormal happenings.

Due to the extensive career of the Warrens, the series has continued to flourish, and The Conjuring Cinematic Universe now comprises several films based on the spooky cases investigated by the pair.

Although not every entrant in the franchise has been as well-received as the first two films of the series, each movie, whether it be Annabelle or The Nun, always provides a healthy dose of scares. One of the most successful horror franchises of all times, we are consistently surprised (and, of course, terrified) by The Conjuring series.
