5 Things New To Netflix This Week (Feb 22)

1. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny

Based on the novel Iron Knight, Silver Vase by Du Lu Wang, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2 tells the story of a band of legendary warriors vow to protect a 400-year-old sword known as The Green Destiny. Michelle Yeoh is back as Yu Shu Lien, and stars alongside Jason Scott Lee from Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, and Donnie Yen, the martial arts and film star who has popularised Wing Chun in China. There's no sign of Jen Yu in the sequel to the original 2000 film, as Zhang Ziyi promised to return only if Ang Lee was involved, which never came to pass as Lee was busy working on Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk. This time around, directing responsibilities go to the veteran Yuen Woo-ping, who served as a martial arts advisor on The Matrix, Kill Bill and the original Crouching Tiger film. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny is a Netflix exclusive, which hopefully goes a long way to dispel the myth that a movie needs to be on the big screen to be successful. Catch it on Netflix from February 26th.
