5 Things You Didn't Know About Raiders of the Lost Ark

5. "We Named The Dog Indiana"

This quote is technically from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade but it solves a mystery you didn't about Raiders of the Lost Ark. In fact George Lucas really had a dog named Indiana back before the era of Star Wars and Raiders. According to Lucas himself, the dog was a large Malamute who frequently "co-piloted" from the passenger seat while Lucas would drive his car. Indiana the dog would first go on to inspire the character of Chewbacca in Star Wars because of this. Without this dog, we will never know if Mr. Sprinkles and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull could have been a better film. But I seriously don't think the character's name was the issue there. On a completely unrelated note (because I refused to give this idea it's own headline) actor Paul Freeman as evil doer Belloq, clearly eats a fly during the scene with Indy threatening to blow up the Ark with a bazooka. No other explanation is really needed, this information is totally useless, and yet I just couldn't help but mention this to the world! Check it out in the film if you don't believe me! Well that's it for now, but please stay tuned for more you didn't know about the rest of the Indiana Jones films. Raiders of the Lost Ark is out now in IMAX theaters and all 4 Indy films will be out for the first time on Blu-Ray from September 18th in the US.
