5 Times Nicolas Cage's Film Meltdowns Worked (And 5 Times They Didn't)

2. Bad: Not The Bees (The Wicker Man, 2006)

The 1973 horror film The Wicker Man is one of the greatest cult based horror films ever made and, for some reason, Hollywood thought they could do it better by remaking it in 2006 starring Nicolas Cage.

Director Neil LaBute may have aimed for horror but instead found a comedy gold mine which sees Cage (dressed as a bear) punch a woman, have his legs broken whilst yelling about honey and, desperately try to make a flat script work with his eccentricities.

The most iconic scene from this remake is when Cage is condemned to a horrifying fate as he is tortured with bees.

What is undoubtedly meant to be terrifying, ends up being hilarious with a combination of awful CGI and Cage's improvised dialogue.

Much to Cage's objections, the bees are poured into his face which, apparently, is as easy as pouring a cup of tea. It's also inexplicable why the CGI team decided not to actually animate bees near his eyes despite the fact that he is yelling about it throughout the scene.

Although it's hard to imagine what a man would say when being stung countlessly by a swarm of bees, it surely wouldn't be quite as hilarious as Cage's portrayal.
