5 Upcoming Films That Will Make 2015 The Biggest Year For Cinema Ever

1. Star Wars: Episode VII

Obviously it is still very early days for this film (in fact it couldn't be earlier), and the release date could very well change from now to then. It is also not yet a certainty that this next Star Wars film will even be Episode VII... though it is fairly safe to say it will be. Although many people are rightfully worried about this film, especially considering how dreadful Episodes I,II and III (at least in comparison to the original trilogy) most people who love the original movies (which is most people) will definitely be keeping an eye on this upcoming film, waiting to either go into full Hulk rage mode or to be excited. It is my opinion that this film will likely be a huge success... not only obviously at the box office, but with audiences and critics alike. In terms of Box Office takings, "The Phantom Menace" is the 11th highest grossing film of all time (and this was before 3D upped the price of tickets). Even without 3D, it managed to pass the 1 billion pound mark which only 13 films in history have yet to achieve. This goes to show that, even though fans of the original were likely worried about a new trilogy back in the 90's they will all at least flock to the cinema to make up their own minds before declaring their undieing hatred for these films. Even if the film is poor, the box office should at the very least by massive... unless it has to directly compete with Avatar and The Avengers... which would be a very poor marketing decision by Disney. This film is much more likely to be released nearer Christmas time, or late Summer, to separate is as much from Disney's other giant, The Avengers 2, as possible. The reason I am predicting that this film will not disappoint and should be excellent is because the world knows how much people loathed Episodes 1,2 and 3... and by now everyone knows all the reasons why the fans weren't impressed. If the movie makers were to make the same mistakes as the prequel trilogy did then they should all be fired. Secondly, this sequel (which I believe is intended to be another trilogy) will exist outside of the main Star Wars storyline somewhat I imagine. I think the film will likely steer clear from Luke Skywalker, Leia and Han and opt to focus on a newer group of characters with an entirely new (although perhaps taken from the novels or comics) storyline. If the film were to try to recast Han Solo for example, fans would certainly not be all that impressed, and Disney should know this... you would hope. The third reason is that technology is so much better now than it has even been... and although, as the prequels proved, better CGI doesn't make for a better film... I for one can't wait to see a film made for 3D set in this gloriously colorful and action filled universe. Plus, considering how much Disney spent on Lucasfilm... they are pretty much hedging all their bets on the fact that this film, episode 7, will be good enough to warrant a new beloved trilogy. They are likely to pull out all their tricks to make this a classic film, and if they don't, no film fan will ever forgive them again. It is just about (just) forgivable to ruin this franchise once, but to do it a second time is... Hulk Smash! Can you think of any other years in the history of film bigger than this one? Are there any huge films I missed off of this list? Please, sound off in the comments section below...
