5 Upcoming Horror Movies That Will Disappoint (And 5 That Could Be Great)

After his experiences with Dimension Films on the Halloween series, Rob Zombie turned to crowdfunding to finance 31, handing himself complete creative control in the process. With no studio to answer to, he was free to deliver his most brutal picture yet.

Several Zombie regulars (Malcolm McDowell, Daniel Roebuck, Sheri Moon Zombie) are joined by Meg Foster and Judy Geeson for a story about a group of hostages being forced to participate in a violent game called 31 where their opponents are – wouldn’t you know it – a gang of evil clowns (sadly, Sid Haig was unable to participate due to illness).

When the film premiered at Sundance, the consensus was that it was everything you’d expect from a Rob Zombie movie and more. The filmmaker himself has stated in interviews that it will be a return to the ultra-violent House Of 1000 Corpses and its sequel, The Devil's Rejects, both of which rank among his best films.

We’ll find out when 31 opens in September.
