George Miller's return to his Mad Max franchise wound up making quite an impression on SDCC audiences, thanks in no small part to a great Q&A about the film as well as some incredible footage that was released online the very next day. Miller describes the film as being in the same league as his previous three Mad Max films, calling it "a very simple allegory, almost a Western on wheels." The footage doesn't do much as far as introducing the plot, but it doessell the film's gritty, post-apocalyptic visual aesthetic and kinetic action, as well as lots and lotsof explosions. Calling the film a Western on wheels may in fact be an understatement, because it appears that Miller has filmed the ultimate car chase. It's deadly, it's gripping, it's visually stunning, and it's tense as hell. Miller explained his desire to make an extended chase scene, saying: "The story popped in my head and just wouldn't go away. I love chase movies; they're the purest form of cinema. I wanted to make one long extended chase, and see what we could pick up about the characters on the way."
