5 Winners And 5 Losers From SDCC 2014

1. Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnbPuPEOOy0 Marvel Studios can put on a big show and bust out the entire cast for their massive blockbuster, but Warner Brothers proved that sometimes, less is more. Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice was nowhere to be found on the studio's press release for SDCC, leading many to assume that it wouldn't have a presence at all. Of course, that's not really Zack Snyder's style, which is good for us, because he showed up and revealed some things we'll be talking about for a long time to come. Many were hoping that we'd get an official announcement about Warner Bros.' plans for the burgeoning DC universe, but we're still two years away from Batman V Superman's release date, so the studio is wisely pacing themselves and putting all of their stock into the upcoming film. Snyder surprised audiences by taking to the Hall H stage right when the Warner Bros. panel started on Saturday morning, and brought a few friends with him. DC's trinity of stars, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, and Ben Affleck, briefly showed up to wave to fans and introduce not only our first look at Gadot as Wonder Woman, but the first bit of footage. The teaser is very short, but effective, as it shows Affleck in an armored Batsuit (almost an exact replica of the one Batman wears in Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns) turning on the Batsignal to reveal Superman in the sky, waiting for him with glowing red eyes. The internet is still reeling from the footage, and trying desperately to get their hands on blurry, leaked copies. And, if you want to get technical about the rankings, DC came out on top according to industry analysts, who examined the SDCC Twitter reactions. Warner Brothers walked away with 248,960 mentions on social media, 149,316 of which were devoted to Gadot's Wonder Woman reveal. Game of Thrones clocked in at second place, with 201, 681 mentions, ahead of Teen Wolf's 195,938 and The Walking Dead's 183,424. Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron rounded out the top five with 173,782. All math aside, it was a pretty good year for movie geeks. We may not have gotten all the big reveals we wanted, but do we ever get all of the reveals we want? Now that we've taken a look at the winners of SDCC 2014, let's take a look at the losers, who either failed to fully grab our attention, or didn't bother showing up at all.
