5 Winners And 5 Losers From SDCC 2014

3. Marvel Television

As fun, engaging, and thorough as the DC Television panels were this year, the Marvel TV panels were the complete opposite. Sure, the studio is more focused on the film side of things than on their television shows, but they do have some exciting things coming down the pipeline that audiences are craving to hear about. They've got five series coming to Netflix, beginning with Daredevil in May 2015, followed by Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and a team-up miniseries called The Defenders. None of those shows were even mentioned in the Marvel TV panel, and Daredevil only got a loose release date announcement because of the 50th Anniversary Daredevil panel held on Sunday, after much of the SDCC chatter had died down. Instead, Marvel chose to focus on their two ABC series, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter. After a slow, lackluster first season, it was hard to get excited about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D's return, though the studio did manage to promise that multiple comics characters would be debuting in season two, including the infamous HYDRA agent known as The Kraken, and a future Avenger (and wife of Hawkeye), Mockingbird. As far as Agent Carter goes, no footage was shown because the series hasn't begun filming yet, though they did patch together a montage of some Captain America movie footage. Overall, the panels weren't that exciting and didn't leave fans with much to buzz about afterward. In fact, they could have easily saved our time and released all of the news online, which may have even been more effective.
