50 Comic Book Movies That Almost Got Made

10. Jerry Bruckheimer's Alien Legion

In 1984, screenwriters Carl Potts and Alan Zelenetz, along with artist Frank Cirocco, debuted a new comic book series under Marvel's Epic Comics imprint. With the premise of a "French Foreign Legion in outer space", the series was known as the Alien Legion. Fast forward to 2007 where an Alien Legion screenplay (written by Potts himself) is optioned by producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney. In 2010, Bruckheimer exercised the option, buying the screenplay and assigning Game Of Thrones show runner David Benioff (as well as a few other scribes) to do a rewrite. Featuring plenty of interesting humanoid/serpentine characters, if Alien Legion had succeeded in coming out a few years ago as it was intended, it could have potentially been the original Guardians Of The Galaxy. Alas, the film is currently in development hell where it's likely to stay for all time.
