Plot: Japan's high school students are forced to take part in a series of depraved death games, which are modelled on childhood games.

Let's deal with the obvious immediately: yes, As the Gods Will is very similar to Squid Game in some ways. In fact, the first game in this one is also a deadly version of Grandma's Footsteps. The film was mentioned a bit after Squid Game's release because of said similarities, and that's a great thing. Hopefully more people are finally discovering this spectacular J-Horror flick, which had gone largely unnoticed up to that point.

There are bonkers horror films and then there's As the Gods Will. This demented death game story delivers one mad set-piece after another - especially that one which revolves around a giant killer cat - and it will have you shocked, disturbed and utterly riveted from start to finish. Any horror fan who is still sleeping on this is doing themselves a massive disservice. If you haven't seen it, go and watch it right now. You'll be thinking of it for days.
